Fido –

It’s a comedy with an interesting premise. Though there are more human bad guys than zombie bad guys. It feels like the zombie element was more supportive than it was the main event. The zombies could feel emotionally …THAT can’t be right, can it?
Some of the funny parts that make this a movie worth seeing…I’d tell you, but that might kill it for you, leaving you with deep blue zombie feelings.

Over all, the movie is funny, though not a “real” zombie movie. For one thing, no zombie should have emotion. Just in case you think I’m prejudiced against funny zombie movies, I though “Shawn of the Dead” was the real zeal, I mean deal.

Still, I’m glad I saw it and would love to see a sequel. Fido! Come home!

The Secret Life of ZOMbees

We have a fairly decent idea of what zombies do when they see a good meal: they leisurely move towards that meal and enjoy an evening of fine dining. They then check to see if there are any leftovers and, perhaps out of a sense of good etiquette, stay until they’ve finished their entire meal.
What I wonder is just what do they do when it’s not suppertime? Do they go listen to Martin Denny? Do they play Resident Evil on their ZomStation II? Do they do the tourist thing and hop on a zairplane to Zimbabwe or Zaire?

Is there a reason why they don’t want to share what they do with us? Is it a secret? Would we be envious? Just what are those little dickens doing, anyway? If anyone knows, please share!

Zombies Go Scholarly!

A Zombie Challenge!

I tried doing the trivial pursuit thing with my brother last night by asking him if he knew when the first zombie movie was made. He came dangerously close to a perfect answer. No, I’m not going to say perfect. There’s a difference between the 1920’s and 30’s.
Anyway, I decided that I’m going to spend some of my play time searching for obscure zombie facts and see if I can stump said brother…or other zombie lovers/haters for that matter. We’ll just see, won’t we?

The FIRST Zombie movie!

Allegedly, the first zombie movie was White Zombie, starring Bela Lugosi. This White Zombie

So what is a true a zombie movie?

My brother tells me that 28 Days Later isn't really a zombie movie. It's about monkey rage...Well he didn't say it was about monkey rage. That's my take on it, but I think he's right, which makes me wonder: Just what truly qualifies as a zombie movie? There was a zombie movie where the zombies apparently are our equal mentally in that they intellectualize, speak, and show emotion (angry emotion). That doesn't qualify as a zombie movie, does it? Zombies are suppose to be mindless boobies, aren't they? They are inferior to us, right? Is that one reason why these movies are so popular, because they make us like we could outsmart these creatures?
Hmmmm...
Some people worry that artificial intelligence will make us feel inferior, but then, anybody in his right mind should have an inferiority complex every time he looks at a flower.
