I’m just starting with this cocktail recipe because I’m listening to Martin Denny and I think his music is synonymous with a Zombie. This site is going to be about any and all things “zombie” and is dedicated to zombie lovers and haters everywhere. But why zombies? Well, I just finished a zombie marathon and I think this just may be the cathartic treatment someone like me could use to move past the whole “living dead” thing...or maybe get into it. We'll see.
And now the recipe:
1 1/4 oz lemon juice
1 1/2 oz dark rum*
3/4 oz orange juice
1/2 oz cherry brandy
1/2 oz light rum* (I’m a dark rum gal, so I trade this for another 1/2 oz of dark rum)
2 dashes grenadine
Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake (don’t stir up the dead!) well.
Strain into a tall glass, filled with crushed ice.
This drink is lethal, though you wouldn’t know it because it’s so smooth. Two of these and you’ll feel and move like these two:

Rumor has it that this drink was invented by Donn Beach in the 1930’s. This is the fellow that owned Don the Beachcomber restaurant in Los Angeles. His restaurants had a Polynesian feel, something I’m sure Martin Denny enjoyed.
Aloha!
Aloha!
